AFTER SCHOOL – SHORT FILM

WHAT WAS DONE

Color Grading (Davinci Resolve) | Round Tripping Premiere Pro

Director Ripa Lim approached me with the vision to enhance the visual narrative of her short film “After School” through color grading. The film was already edited, so my task encompassed transferring the edit from the Premiere Pro project to Davinci Resolve for color grading and seamlessly integrating the graded footage back into the editor’s Premiere Pro project.

One of the significant challenges encountered during the process was achieving consistency in shot matching, particularly concerning the blue shirts featured in various scenes. Shot on Red Komodo 6K and RED EPIC-W 8K S35 cameras, each shot presented unique lighting conditions and camera settings, requiring meticulous attention to detail for seamless continuity.

Despite these challenges, the shots were expertly matched, and the round-tripping process proved successful, resulting in a visually cohesive and captivating final product that elevated the storytelling experience of “After School.”
